Voice Studies

All the courses at the Academy are in Polish. However, classes at the Acedemy may be taught in a foreign language at the request of a student with the consent of the Dean, or on the initiative of the Dean.


No instrument compares to the beauty and power of the human voice. It is this beauty that makes a person capable of expressing the deepest feelings and emotions.

The world needs your voice!

The Voice and Drama Faculty of the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Kraków:

  • provides young music students with multi-level development opportunity, where working on the vocal technique and artistic personality is a priority
  • presents an individual approach to the development of musical abilities and tastes of each student, and prepares graduates for independent artistic work as soloists
  • offers a programme allowing students to explore all musical eras and styles, as well as classes teaching the basics of acting in verse and prose, recitation and stage movement
  • emphasizes group activities – opera ensembles aimed at staging operas in their full stage form and vocal ensembles enabling students to work on a cappella music and oratorio-cantata music
  • thanks to the cooperation with the Krakow Opera, it offers the opportunity to perform in productions with the participation of students. In recent years, these have included: Carmenby G. Bizet, Freelance by C.M. von Weber, The Magic Flute by W.A. Mozart, The Conspirators by F. Schubert, Orpheus and Eurydice by Ch.W. Gluck, The Marriage of Figaro by W.A. Mozart and carnival opera galas
  • it enables participation in master classes conducted by eminent artists.

You will learn:

  • to develop, under the guidance of your teacher, an extensive and versatile repertoire including opera arias, oratorio arias and songs from all eras
  • different performance styles and traditions
  • pronunciation skills in many European (and other) languages
  • fluent sight reading
  • the theory of vocal literature
  • new acting and stage skills
  • cooperation with stage partners and cultural institutions

After completing the programme, you can:

  • enter the stage of opera theatres
  • participate in vocal competitions and develop your career
  • cooperate as a singer with various cultural institutions
  • carry out your own artistic and scholarship projects
  • teach in schools of all levels of art education
  • open your own singing school
  • carry out freelance concert activities
  • form a vocal ensemble
  • develop your skills in opera studios
